Supporting Moral Education in Batticaloa

This initiative, generously sponsored by Mrs. Radhesha Rasaratnam from Melbourne, Australia, was launched to strengthen moral and cultural education for 150 students at Sri Gananatha Moral School, Vantharumoolai, Batticaloa District. Through Vanni Hope’s Moral Education Support Project, essential learning materials and musical instruments were provided to enrich students’ understanding of Hindu traditions, ethics, and community values. This project empowers young learners to take pride in their heritage and develop a strong moral foundation for the future.

Preserving Identity Through Education

Vantharumoolai, a rural and war affected village in the Batticaloa District, continues to recover from years of displacement and hardship. Many local families struggle with limited educational resources and exposure to outside influences that challenge their cultural and spiritual values.

At the Sri Gananatha Moral School, teachers strive to preserve Hindu teachings and traditions through structured moral education. However, the lack of educational materials, musical instruments, and classroom resources limited their ability to engage students effectively.

This project was initiated to fill these gaps, ensuring that children from this under-resourced community can access quality moral education, strengthen their cultural roots, and resist external pressures that threaten their identity.

The Moral Education Support Project was designed to enhance both the teaching and learning experience at Sri Gananatha Moral School.
