Foundation Laying Ceremony for Community & Education Facility in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna District

The foundation has officially been laid for a new vocational training centre in Chavakachcheri, marking an important step towards strengthening education and community development in the region.

This project, generously sponsored by the Sritharan Family from Australia and implemented by Vanni Hope, will serve as a long-term investment in the future of the community, with the potential to benefit thousands of students for years to come.

A Meaningful Foundation Laying Ceremony

The foundation laying ceremony for the proposed education building was successfully conducted, marking a significant milestone in advancing educational opportunities in the Thenmaradchi Division.

The ceremony was attended by Founding Chairman Mr. Ranjan Sivagnanasundaram, Sri Lanka Country Director Mr. N. Muralitharan, and the Sritharan Family, whose generous support has made this project possible. The presence of their family members, alongside the dedicated Vanni Hope team, reflected the strong sense of partnership and shared purpose behind this initiative.

This moment symbolised more than the beginning of construction. It represented a collective commitment to empowering future generations through access to quality education and practical skill development.

A Centre Designed for Education and Community

The vocational training centre is being developed as a versatile and impactful space. During weekdays, it will function as an education facility, supporting students with learning opportunities and skill development. On weekends, the building will serve as a community centre, creating a shared space for local engagement, training and activities.

This dual purpose design ensures that the facility will maximise its impact, supporting both individual growth and broader community development.

Strengthening Opportunities for the Future

Access to education and skills training plays a vital role in creating sustainable opportunities, particularly in underserved areas. This project aims to provide a supportive environment where students can build knowledge, develop practical skills and prepare for future pathways.

With construction expected to take approximately one year, the centre will stand as a lasting resource for the community, contributing to long-term educational and social progress.

Working Together to Build Impact

At Vanni Hope, we strongly believe in the power of partnerships. We are grateful to the Sritharan Family for their generosity and trust in supporting this initiative. Their contribution will have a meaningful and lasting impact on the lives of many.

We also acknowledge the efforts of everyone involved in bringing this project to life, from planning through to implementation.
