Agriculture Development Project in Kunchankulam Vaharai, Batticaloa

Vanni Hope is proud to showcase our recent Agriculture Development Project in Kunchankulam, located in the Vaharai DS Division of Batticaloa District. This project is part of our ongoing efforts to support agriculture-based livelihoods, empowering local communities to enhance their capacity and improve their quality of life. Sponsored by Mahesan and Balini Chevayohan from the USA, this initiative is implemented in collaboration with the local Women’s Rural Development Society to provide targeted support and resources to community members engaged in agriculture.

Empowering Farmers Through Capacity Enhancement

The project is designed to enhance the skills and resources available to local farmers, with a particular focus on sustainable practices and community empowerment. Beneficiaries of the project include 30 men and women from Kunchankulam, who are gaining access to resources, training, and support that will improve their productivity and self-sufficiency. By equipping them with skills in sustainable farming and resource management, the project aims to boost agricultural yields, providing both economic and food security benefits to the community.

A Women-Led Initiative for Lasting Impact

This project is implemented in collaboration with the Women’s Development Society in Kunchankulam, reflecting Vanni Hope’s commitment to empowering women as leaders of change within their communities. Through the guidance and leadership of the Women’s Development Society, the project fosters a strong sense of ownership among participants, enabling long-term growth and resilience. Women in the community are not only enhancing their agricultural skills but also contributing to broader economic development, reinforcing their role as central contributors to the wellbeing of their families and the community at large.
