As part of our Sustainable Livelihoods and Women’s Empowerment Initiative, Vanni Hope proudly supported Mrs. Raji Sivadas, a determined single mother from Keerimalai in the Jaffna District, by donating a sewing machine to help her establish a more secure livelihood through tailoring.
This project was made possible through the generous support of a sponsor from Australia in remembrance of Parthibavarman Thillai Nadesan, whose memory continues to inspire meaningful, life-changing support.
A Story of Strength and Silent Sacrifice
Mrs. Raji Sivadas for years, was denied the chance to work due to her husband’s wishes. After being abandoned, she was left to raise her children alone. Despite this hardship, she remained committed to giving her children the education and future they deserve.
When our team visited her home in Keerimalai to hand over the new sewing machine, they found that the family was living without electricity due to financial hardship. Without delay, Vanni Hope restored their electricity, because some things simply cannot wait—especially when it comes to restoring the basic dignity every person deserves.
Sewing a Future with Dignity
Before receiving support, Raji relied on a damaged sewing machine to earn a modest income. The new Juki machine gifted by Vanni Hope will significantly enhance her productivity and income, allowing her to take more orders and better support her family. Her children, already excelling in their studies, now have the stability to pursue their dreams without interruption.
Our support does not stop with just one intervention. It’s about standing by families through their journey, whether that’s by providing a tool to earn a living or ensuring they have power and dignity at home.
