As part of our Disability Support efforts under our Health Enhancement Pillar, Vanni Hope proudly supported the certificate awarding ceremony for graduates of the Batticaloa Vocational Training Institute for Persons with Disabilities in Kumpurumoolai, Batticaloa District.
This meaningful event was made possible through the kind sponsorship of Dr. Malathi Waran, whose generosity ensured that every graduate received the recognition they truly deserved.
Recognising Hard Work and New Skills
Over the past year, a dedicated group of students with a range of physical and cognitive disabilities completed certified vocational training in valuable skills, including tailoring, carpentry, ICT, mobile repair, and home appliance servicing.
The awarding ceremony honoured 25 trainees, presenting them with formal certificates in front of family members, local community leaders, and potential employers. For many, this was a proud milestone that boosted their confidence and paved the way for greater social acceptance and work opportunities.
Building Inclusive Futures
Vocational training plays a vital role in empowering persons with disabilities to find pathways to financial independence and community participation. Events like this do more than hand out certificates — they break barriers, celebrate ability and encourage local businesses to see the value and skills that these graduates bring.
The event also helped raise awareness about the importance of inclusive employment. More than ten local employers and community stakeholders attended the ceremony, creating connections that can help graduates find internships and job placements in the future.
Our Gratitude
Vanni Hope thanks Dr. Malathi Waran for her generous sponsorship, which covered the ceremony costs, gifts, certificates, and the small touches that made this a truly dignified celebration for the graduates.
Together, we are proud to stand alongside these students, their families, the Batticaloa Vocational Training Institute, and the broader community to promote inclusivity, independence, and hope for individuals with disabilities.
