Inaugural Model English Classroom Launched at CP/W/Hagala Tamil Vidyalayam, Tawalantenna, Wattegama

As part of our Education Support Initiative, Vanni Hope is proud to announce the launch of our first Model English Classroom at CP/W/Hagala Tamil Vidyalayam in Tawalantenna, within the Wattegama Educational Zone of Kandy District.

This milestone project was made possible through the generous support of Dr. Malathi Waran, whose sponsorship has opened doors for underprivileged students in this rural community to develop strong English skills and brighter futures.

Creating Better Opportunities for Rural Students

In communities like Tawalantenna, many families rely on daily wage plantation work or farming to survive. For children, this often means limited resources and a lack of proper learning spaces, which can hinder their development of essential skills, such as English, a subject that can open pathways to higher education and better job opportunities.

The new Model English Classroom offers students an inspiring, well-equipped learning environment that sparks their interest in learning and motivates them to stay engaged in school.

Removing Barriers with Practical Support

Alongside establishing this classroom, Vanni Hope provided essential school supplies so every child has what they need to participate fully in their lessons. This simple, practical support removes everyday barriers that often prevent rural children from maximising their educational potential.

Our vision is for this classroom to boost attendance, build confidence, and strengthen English skills — empowering these young learners to grow into the next generation of leaders, educators, and professionals.
