New Computers Provided to Kaddumurivukkulam G.T.M. School to Bridge the Digital Divide in Kathiraveli

As part of our School Computers initiative under the Education Support Programme, Vanni Hope proudly delivered much-needed computer facilities to BT/KK/Kaddumurivukkulam G.T.M. School in the Vaharai Kathiraveli Division of Batticaloa District.

This project was made possible through the generous support of Vindran Vengadasalam, whose sponsorship has provided students in this remote rural community with essential tools for a modern education.

Bringing Technology to Rural Students

Located about 92 kilometres from Batticaloa town and surrounded by dense shrubland, Kaddumurivukkulam G.T.M. School has long faced barriers to accessing modern learning resources. The daily bus service is irregular, and the distance from the town means families and teachers often struggle to provide up-to-date educational opportunities.

By providing 6 new PCs and all necessary peripherals, this project is helping students acquire practical ICT knowledge that can enhance their studies, foster teamwork and critical thinking skills, and prepare them for future job opportunities in an increasingly digital world.

A Community Effort with the Aram Initiative

The official opening of the new computer facility was made even more special with the presence of young adults from The Aram Initiative, part of the UK’s Sri Lankan diaspora. Their support, encouragement, and engagement with the students demonstrated the power of global Tamil youth reconnecting with rural communities in Sri Lanka.

Their visit inspired students to see what is possible when they embrace education and technology.

A Stronger Future for Kaddumurivukkulam Students

With these new computers, teachers can now integrate ICT into lessons more effectively, making learning more interactive and engaging for the school’s 172 students. For many children here, this is their first real chance to use a computer at school.

Vanni Hope extends our heartfelt thanks to Vindran Vengadasalam for his generous sponsorship and to the young adults from The Aram Initiative for standing beside us to encourage these children to dream bigger.

Together, we are closing the digital gap for rural students — one school at a time.
