We are excited to share the success of our ‘Water For Life’ initiative in Pudur, a village in Katiraveli, Batticaloa district. In collaboration with Gandhi Illam New Zealand Tamil Trust, Vanni Hope has implemented the first phase of our Tube Well Project, transforming the lives of tribal communities living in the region. This project is a significant step forward in our mission to provide clean and reliable water sources to underserved communities.
Previously, the 75 families in Pudur faced severe challenges, lacking access to clean drinking water. Many of these families, living below the poverty line, relied on riverbank and reservoir water, which led to various health issues, putting both current and future generations at risk. Recognising this critical need, we have successfully provided tube wells to 10 families in the first phase of our project, offering a sustainable solution to their water and sanitation problems.
This project goes beyond just providing water; it’s about restoring dignity, improving health, and building the foundation for a better future for the families in Pudur. Access to clean water not only prevents waterborne diseases but also improves the overall quality of life for the community. We are proud to stand alongside our partners and the local community as we work to bring clean water to those who need it most.
