Celebrating Talent On and Off the Field
We are thrilled to share the remarkable achievement of 19-year-old Rajinikanth Thisalini, a young cricketer from Tharmapuram in Kilinochchi, who has been selected to represent the Dambulla Super Provincial women’s cricket team. This elite squad brings together players from three provinces, making her selection a significant milestone in her sporting journey, and a proud moment for all of us at Vanni Hope.
A Dual Sponsorship Journey
Thisalini’s path has been shaped not only by her talent and dedication but also by Vanni Hope’s continued support. Through our Sports Empowerment Initiative under Community Development, we’ve proudly sponsored her cricket training, travel, and gear. But our support doesn’t end on the pitch—we also sponsor her education.
Just last year, Thisalini sat her G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O Level) examinations and achieved an outstanding set of results: 2 A’s, 4 B’s, and 3 C’s. These results reflect not only her academic ability but also her resilience in the face of numerous personal challenges. Her ability to balance school and sport so successfully is a testament to her character.
Empowering Young Women Through Sport and Study
Thisalini’s achievements highlight why Vanni Hope invests in young people, especially girls who show potential in multiple arenas. By supporting their whole journey, from education to extracurricular excellence, we help unlock opportunities that might otherwise remain out of reach.
We are incredibly proud of Thisalini’s growth and excited for what lies ahead, both in her studies and on the cricket field. Her story is a powerful reminder that with the right support, young Sri Lankans can rise and shine, wherever their passions lead them.
