Vanni Hope is delighted to share the joyous Thai Pongal celebrations held at our Shakthy Girls Home in Arasadithivu, Batticaloa District. This special initiative, under our Community Development Projects, brought together the young residents of the home to celebrate this vibrant harvest festival with enthusiasm and unity.
A Celebration of Gratitude and Community
Thai Pongal, celebrated to give thanks to the Sun God and nature for a bountiful harvest, holds great cultural significance in Tamil communities. At Shakthy Girls Home, the festival was marked with traditional rituals, cultural activities, and heartfelt moments of gratitude, creating a memorable experience for all involved.
The girls participated in cooking pongal (sweet rice), decorating the premises with kolam (rangoli art), and sharing meals in a spirit of togetherness. The event not only honoured the cultural traditions of Pongal but also provided an opportunity for the girls to bond and feel a sense of belonging and support.
