Embracing Tamil Culture and Heritage

Pongal is more than just a festival—it is a deep-rooted tradition that symbolises prosperity, gratitude, and togetherness. The celebration at the District Secretariat in Kegalle was a vibrant display of cultural pride, featuring:

• Traditional Pongal Cooking: Participants took part in preparing the sweet Pongal dish, a key ritual of the festival.
• Kolam Art: Beautifully designed Kolam (rangoli) patterns adorned the venue, enhancing the festive spirit.
• Community Gathering: Local leaders, residents, and well-wishers came together to celebrate Tamil heritage in a meaningful way.

By bringing the Pongal festival to the District Secretariat, Vanni Hope highlighted the importance of cultural inclusivity and community unity, ensuring that Tamil traditions continue to be celebrated and recognised.
