Bringing Electricity Access to a Family in Thirukkovil, Ampara District

We are pleased to share the successful completion of a household infrastructure support initiative in Sankamankandha village, Thirukkovil Division, Ampara District. Through this project, a reliable electricity connection was installed for a family whose home had previously been provided with basic facilities.

This initiative was implemented to ensure that the household could safely access electricity, improving daily living conditions and enabling the family to benefit from essential lighting and energy services.

Addressing Energy Challenges in Rural Communities

Many rural communities in Sri Lanka continue to face challenges related to reliable electricity access. In villages such as Sankamankandha, limited energy availability can significantly affect daily life, including household safety, educational opportunities for children, and access to modern appliances.

Before this intervention, the family had access to a home with basic amenities but lacked a stable electricity connection. Without reliable power, the household faced difficulties carrying out everyday activities after dark and accessing energy dependent services.

Recognizing the importance of reliable energy for safe and stable living conditions, steps were taken to provide the household with a functioning electricity connection.

Improving Living Conditions Through Electricity Access

The project focused on installing and activating a proper electricity connection for the household. With electricity now available, the family can benefit from safe lighting, improved household comfort, and greater convenience in daily routines.

Reliable electricity also creates opportunities for children to study in the evenings and allows the household to make use of appliances that improve quality of life. Access to energy is a key component of modern living and contributes significantly to safety, productivity, and wellbeing.

By ensuring the household has access to a stable power supply, this initiative helps create a more secure and supportive environment for the family.

Beneficiary Impact and Household Stability

The project directly benefited V. Thilakarani and her family, enabling them to fully utilize their home with the addition of reliable electricity. With all essential household needs now met, the family can experience greater comfort and stability in their daily lives.

Improved access to energy contributes to better living conditions and provides opportunities for education, communication, and small scale household activities that depend on electricity.
