Vanni Hope Partners with Project C.U.R.E. to Strengthen Healthcare Infrastructure in Sri Lanka

We are proud to announce a landmark partnership between Vanni Hope and Project C.U.R.E., a globally recognised nonprofit organisation based in the United States, to enhance healthcare infrastructure and provide life-saving medical equipment to hospitals across Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province, with a special focus on the Batticaloa region.

Our chairman Ranjan met with Rose Polycarpio from Project C.U.R.E yesterday to formalise this agreement. This collaboration marks Project C.U.R.E.’s first project in Sri Lanka, and we are honoured to facilitate their inaugural work on the island.

Who is Project C.U.R.E.?

Project C.U.R.E. (Commission on Urgent Relief and Equipment) is the world’s largest distributor of donated medical equipment and supplies to resource-limited communities. Since its founding in 1987, Project C.U.R.E. has delivered medical relief to hospitals and clinics in over 135 countries, addressing the staggering need for basic medical infrastructure in developing health systems.

They specialise in delivering fully outfitted 40-foot cargo containers of medical equipment, tailored to meet the specific needs of local health facilities. Their impact is measurable, lasting, and transformative — enabling doctors and nurses to treat patients with dignity, efficiency, and care.

What This Means for Sri Lanka

With this partnership, Vanni Hope and Project C.U.R.E. will work together to supply hospitals in the Eastern Province with critically needed equipment—ranging from ICU beds and patient monitors to diagnostic devices and surgical tools.

In addition to equipment donations, the project will assess and respond to infrastructure requirements to help ensure long-term functionality and sustainability in the region’s healthcare services.

This partnership is not just a donation; it is an investment in the health and wellbeing of underserved communities in Sri Lanka.

A Special Thanks

This milestone would not have been possible without the leadership and tireless efforts of Dr. Naj Nagendran (Emergency Medicine, USA) and Dr. Sangarapillai Asokan (Radiology, USA)—our dedicated Health Projects Advisors. Their continued commitment to improving healthcare access in Sri Lanka and their assistance in building global bridges of support have been instrumental in bringing Project C.U.R.E. on board.

Looking Ahead

The collaboration with Project C.U.R.E. signifies a giant leap forward in Vanni Hope’s Health Enhancement efforts. It embodies our shared vision of equitable healthcare for all, and we are excited about the positive impact this will have on countless lives.

We thank our supporters, donors, and health sector partners for believing in our mission. With your continued support, we will turn this opportunity into a legacy of improved care for generations to come.

Stay tuned for updates as this transformational project unfolds.
