Vanni Hope was honoured to attend the launch of World Vision Sri Lanka’s SHIKSHA initiative, a landmark national program that aims to transform 50 of the most vulnerable schools across Sri Lanka’s 25 districts within 50 weeks.
The launch event was held at the Sheraton Colombo Hotel and brought together government representatives, education department officials, corporate partners, charitable organisations, and development leaders committed to strengthening educational opportunities for children across the country.
Representing Vanni Hope at the event were Chairman Mr Ranjan and Deputy Chairman Dr Malathi. Vanni Hope, Director Valluvan Thillairajah, addressed attendees virtually from Australia, sharing the organisation’s commitment to improving educational outcomes and expanding access to technology in underserved communities.
During the launch, World Vision Sri Lanka recognised Vanni Hope as its largest partner in the digital education component of the SHIKSHA initiative. Through this partnership, Vanni Hope will donate smartboards to the participating schools, helping create modern, technology-enabled learning environments for students and teachers.
The smartboards will be installed across the schools selected under the program, with an estimated 15,000 students expected to benefit from enhanced access to digital learning tools and interactive classroom experiences.
The SHIKSHA initiative represents a significant investment in the future of Sri Lanka’s education sector, particularly for students in vulnerable and underserved communities. By combining infrastructure improvements, educational resources, and technology, the program seeks to create lasting change and improve learning outcomes nationwide.
Education has long been a cornerstone of Vanni Hope’s work. For more than a decade, the organisation has supported students and schools through scholarships, educational resources, school development projects, and technology initiatives that help young people access quality learning opportunities.
We are proud to partner with World Vision Lanka on this transformative initiative and look forward to seeing the positive impact it will have on thousands of students, teachers, and communities across the country.
Together, we can help bridge the digital divide and ensure every child has the opportunity to learn, grow, and succeed.
