Vanni Hope, in collaboration with the Foundation of Goodness, is thrilled to announce the launch of our latest women’s empowerment initiative at the Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre in Hatton. Sponsored by Dr. Cassandra Byers from Australia, this program is designed to equip local women with essential tailoring skills that can lead to economic independence and personal growth.
As part of this initiative, Vanni Hope has generously donated Zoje sewing machines to the centre, providing the women with top-quality equipment for their training. These machines are crucial tools in the hands-on lessons, enabling participants to learn various sewing techniques, from basic stitching to advanced garment construction. The goal of these classes is to help women build marketable skills that will enable them to start their own tailoring businesses or find employment in the garment industry, which is a significant economic driver in the region.
The Foundation of Goodness’s Village Heartbeat Empowerment Centre in Hatton serves as a vital hub for skill development, and the addition of this tailoring program further strengthens the centre’s role in fostering community development. By offering women access to high-quality training and resources, this initiative not only enhances their financial independence but also empowers them to contribute meaningfully to their families and communities.
Vanni Hope remains committed to empowering women across Sri Lanka, and this project in Hatton is another step toward creating sustainable livelihoods and opportunities for disadvantaged women.
