New Medical Equipment Delivered to Panama and Karaitivu Hospitals to Strengthen Rural Healthcare

As part of our Health Enhancement Initiative, Vanni Hope is proud to share the successful delivery of essential medical equipment to two rural divisional hospitals in Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province: Panama Divisional Hospital and Karaitivu Divisional Hospital.

These improvements ensure that thousands of families in remote communities have better access to quality health services, modern treatment tools and safer patient care.

Supporting Over 8000 Rural Patients

Panama Divisional Hospital in the Pothuvil Division, Ampara District, serves more than 3500 people who mostly come from disadvantaged villages with limited health awareness. The hospital now has vital new equipment, including a multiparameter patient monitor, adhesive plaster bandages and other medical supplies that help doctors monitor patients effectively, respond quickly and improve treatment outcomes.

Karaitivu Divisional Hospital in the Karaitivu Division, Ampara District, serves an additional 4,500 people who rely on this facility for their everyday medical needs and emergencies. To strengthen their care, Vanni Hope provided much-needed items, including spinal boards, sliding boards, ceiling fans for improved ward conditions, normal and paediatric mattresses with Mackintosh covers, and adhesive medical bandages.

Equipment That Makes a Real Difference

This equipment directly supports safer patient transfers, provides more comfortable recovery for children and adults, enables better monitoring, and facilitates more efficient treatment for common medical conditions. Simple items, such as mattresses and fans, significantly improve hospital stays for families who often travel long distances to reach these rural hospitals.

Multiparameter monitors, spinal boards and sliding boards help medical teams respond more confidently and quickly in emergencies, especially in communities where hospitals have very limited resources.

Health Enhancement for Remote Communities

Access to reliable healthcare should not be a luxury. These two projects are part of Vanni Hope’s ongoing commitment to bridge the healthcare gap for rural families who are too often overlooked.
