We are thrilled to share the success of our very first Elder Health Screening Program, which took place in Ponnalai GN, Chulipuram, Jaffna. This event marked a significant milestone for Vanni Hope, as we embarked on a mission to provide essential healthcare services to our elderly community members. The screening was a resounding success, with a large turnout and enthusiastic participation from the local community.
During the event, we conducted thorough health checks, including blood pressure, weight, height, BMI, blood glucose levels, and waist circumference measurements. These screenings are crucial for the early detection of chronic conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, which are common among older adults. Our efforts were met with great appreciation, and we were able to identify several individuals who require ongoing medical attention. We are now working closely with local healthcare providers to ensure they receive the necessary follow-up care.
A special highlight of the day was the involvement of one of the nursing students whose degree we sponsor. This student joined us to assist with the screenings, demonstrating the true spirit of giving back to the community. Their participation was not only a testament to the impact of our educational support programs but also an inspiration for others to contribute to the wellbeing of their communities.
The success of this first event has laid a strong foundation for future initiatives. We are committed to expanding the Elder Health Screening Program to other areas, ensuring that more elderly individuals have access to the healthcare services they need.
