As part of Vanni Hope’s commitment to enhancing health and wellbeing across Sri Lanka, we recently implemented an Elders Wellness Program in Mavadimunmari Village, located in the Paddippalai DS Division of Batticaloa District. This project focuses on improving access to essential health screenings and raising awareness about the importance of regular health checks for elderly individuals in rural communities.
Focusing on Elderly Health in the Eastern Province
The Elders Wellness Program is an awareness campaign that promotes regular health screenings for elders in rural and underserved areas. Many elderly individuals in these regions face limited access to healthcare facilities, which can lead to undiagnosed conditions and neglected health issues. By bringing health screening opportunities to Mavadimunmari Village, Vanni Hope is working to bridge these gaps and ensure that elderly residents receive the support they need to manage their health.
Our health screenings cover essential measurements such as blood pressure, blood glucose levels, BMI, and overall physical wellness assessments. By detecting potential health issues early, we aim to prevent more severe complications and support elderly individuals in maintaining their wellbeing.
Empowering Communities Through Health Awareness
In addition to the screenings, the program includes an awareness campaign that educates the community on the importance of routine health checks for elderly family members. The sessions are designed to empower residents with knowledge, helping them understand symptoms, preventive measures, and when to seek medical support. This proactive approach allows families to play a more active role in supporting their elders’ health, creating a more connected and health-aware community.
Our Commitment to Health and Wellbeing
The Elders Wellness Program is a testament to Vanni Hope’s ongoing mission to promote health and wellbeing across Sri Lanka’s underserved communities. By focusing on rural areas, we are ensuring that some of the most vulnerable populations have access to the healthcare and support they deserve. This project in Mavadimunmari Village is just one part of our broader Health and Wellbeing Empowerment initiatives aimed at creating a healthier, more resilient Sri Lanka.
Thank you to everyone who supports our work in making these programs possible. Together, we continue to make a tangible difference in the lives of elders and families across the Eastern Province.
