Emergency Relief for Flood-Affected Families in Andankulam, Vaharai

In response to the devastating floods that have severely impacted communities across Sri Lanka, Vanni Hope has launched an emergency relief initiative to support families in Andankulam, Vaharai DS Division, Batticaloa District. This project provided essential food packs to 115 families who have been affected by the flooding, helping them sustain themselves during this challenging time.

Sponsored by Vanni Hope and implemented in collaboration with the Hospital Development Society at Kathiraveli Divisional Hospital, this initiative reflects our unwavering commitment to supporting vulnerable communities in their time of need.

Addressing Immediate Needs

The recent floods have displaced families, disrupted livelihoods, and left many struggling to meet basic necessities such as food and shelter. Farmers have lost their crops, daily wage earners have been unable to work, and the overall impact on rural communities has been devastating.

Recognising the urgency of the situation, Vanni Hope partnered with the Kathiraveli Divisional Hospital’s Hospital Development Society to deliver emergency food packs. Each food pack was carefully prepared to provide families with enough sustenance for the coming days, ensuring they can focus on rebuilding their lives without the immediate worry of food insecurity.

Why This Initiative Matters

This project is part of Vanni Hope’s broader efforts to support communities impacted by natural disasters. By providing emergency relief, we aim to alleviate immediate hardships while also empowering families to recover and rebuild. For the people of Andankulam, this initiative offers not only practical assistance but also hope and solidarity during a time of immense difficulty.
