Triumph Over Adversity: Celebrating Attorney-at-Law Thevapriya’s Remarkable Achievement

At Vanni Hope, we are incredibly proud to celebrate the remarkable achievement of Thevapriya from Arasaditivu, who has successfully passed the Attorney-at-Law Examination with First Class Honours after completing her Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) degree at the University of Jaffna. Her inspiring journey is one of resilience, determination, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to education. From overcoming profound personal loss to supporting her younger sister while pursuing her studies, Thevapriya’s story is a powerful reminder that perseverance and hope can overcome even the most difficult circumstances.

A Journey Marked by Strength and Perseverance

Born and raised in the small village of Arasaditivu in the Batticaloa District, Thevapriya experienced the heartbreaking loss of her father at a very young age. Despite the many challenges her family faced, she remained committed to her education and worked tirelessly towards building a brighter future for herself and those around her. Her determination was tested once again while she was completing her university studies when her mother, Mrs Manjula, sadly passed away following a battle with cancer.

Mrs Manjula was well known to the Vanni Hope family, having faithfully served as a warden at our Shakthy Illam Girls Home. Her kindness, compassion, and dedication touched the lives of countless young girls and their families over the years. Faced with the devastating loss of both parents, Thevapriya not only continued her studies but also took on the responsibility of supporting and caring for her younger sister, demonstrating extraordinary courage, resilience, and maturity throughout this incredibly difficult period.

Despite these hardships, she remained steadfast in her pursuit of excellence and continued to work towards achieving her dream of entering the legal profession. Her perseverance ultimately led her to complete her Bachelor of Laws degree at the University of Jaffna before successfully passing the Attorney-at-Law Examination with First Class Honours. Her achievement stands as a testament to the strength of her character and her unwavering determination to succeed despite the obstacles placed before her.

The Transformative Power of Education

Throughout her educational journey, Thevapriya was supported through Vanni Hope’s student sponsorship programme by the Saranya Mahesan Foundation, whose generosity helped make her aspirations a reality. From her school years through to the completion of her legal studies, this support provided her with opportunities that might otherwise have been beyond reach. Vanni Hope was privileged to walk alongside her throughout this journey and witness first-hand the perseverance, commitment, and resilience that have defined her path.
