At Vanni Hope, we are dedicated to removing the barriers that prevent rural students from accessing a quality education. As part of our Student Sponsorship program, we are pleased to introduce S. Haridharan, a dedicated student from Talawakelle, Central Province, who is currently pursuing his Advanced Level (A/L) studies in Mathematics at CP/N/Talawakelle Tamil Maha Vidyalayam.
Haridharan comes from a family of six, with his mother working as an estate labourer and his father engaged in vehicle servicing. With two younger siblings also in school and limited household income, his family struggles to meet the rising costs of education. Haridharan’s situation reflects significant economic vulnerability, as assessed by a baseline poverty score of 62%—a clear indicator of his family’s limited access to basic necessities, including food, stable income, and educational resources.
Despite these hardships, Haridharan has shown remarkable perseverance and academic potential. He dreams of furthering his studies in the field of mathematics and building a better future for himself and his family.
Thanks to the generosity of Miss Ranjitha Sivagnanasundaram, Haridharan now receives a full scholarship through Vanni Hope. This support will help cover essential expenses over 19 months, including meals, hostel accommodation, transport, and educational materials.
This sponsorship provides Haridharan with the stability and resources necessary to focus on his studies, transforming his aspirations into achievable goals. At Vanni Hope, this is one of many powerful stories that remind us why we work to uplift students across Sri Lanka.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Ranjitha for believing in the transformative power of education and helping Haridharan walk confidently toward a brighter future.
