As part of our ongoing Education Support Initiative, Vanni Hope has successfully set up a Model Mathematics Classroom at BT/KK/Vantharumoolai Ganesh Vidyalayam, located in the Batticaloa District of Sri Lanka’s Eastern Province.
This project was made possible through the generous sponsorship of Mr. Vindran Vengadasalan, and reflects our continued commitment to uplifting rural education by strengthening mathematics instruction in primary schools.
Creating a Better Learning Environment for 474 Students
Ganesh Vidyalayam is a vital educational hub for the Vantharumoolai community, with 474 students from Grades 1 to 5 depending on the school for their early academic development. The new model classroom is specifically designed to improve student performance in mathematics by integrating:
- High-quality mathematical equipment
- Practical tools to support hands-on learning
- Teaching aids that help explain complex concepts in engaging ways
Goals and Impact
The introduction of the mathematics classroom aims to:
- Boost mathematics exam pass rates
- Improve classroom attendance and student participation
- Strengthen the foundation for students aiming to pursue higher education
- Enhance teachers’ ability to deliver interactive, concept-based math lessons
Through this project, we not only enhance academic results but also foster a culture of curiosity, confidence, and capability among students in a subject that often holds them back.
