As part of our Education Support Initiative, Vanni Hope has successfully completed a computer lab project at CP/K/GP/Dolosbage Tamil Maha Vidyalayam, located in the Gampola Education Zone of Kandy District. Sponsored by the Lakshmana Iyar Sasitharan Family in Australia, this initiative supports 250 students, many from plantation and daily-wage families, who face barriers to accessing quality educational resources.
Bridging the Digital Divide
This project addressed the school’s lack of access to computers and digital learning tools. A new computer classroom has been set up, equipped with essential hardware and educational technology. The goal is to introduce students to smart learning methods and improve their digital literacy from an early age.
By integrating computer-based learning into the curriculum, students can now engage with interactive lessons, participate in virtual collaboration, and acquire skills essential to a modern educational environment.
Advancing Smart Learning
The new setup enables teachers to utilise tools such as slide presentations, video conferencing, shared whiteboards, and application sharing. This not only enhances student engagement but also helps them develop analytical thinking and tech-based problem-solving abilities.
Through this project, Vanni Hope aims to foster a generation of students who are confident using digital tools, better prepared for higher education, and capable of contributing to a tech-enabled global society.
A Lasting Investment in Education
This initiative aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 4, which aims to ensure inclusive, equitable, and quality education for all. By establishing digital learning infrastructure in a remote, underserved community, we are creating long-term opportunities for both students and educators.
