Vanni Hope has successfully completed an important Education Support Initiative at Arasadithivu Preschool, located in the Vellaveli Division of Batticaloa District. This project involved installing a full under-ceiling to improve classroom conditions, creating a safer, cooler, and more comfortable learning environment for the school’s youngest students.
This transformation was made possible through the kind sponsorship of the Tennyson and Vinitha Rodrigo Trust, whose support has directly benefited over 100 children who have passed through or are currently studying at this preschool.
Improving Safety and Comfort in Early Education
For young learners, the physical classroom environment plays a vital role in shaping their ability to focus, feel safe, and engage with learning. The under-ceiling installed at Arasadithivu Preschool—covering a 12-square-foot area—significantly reduces heat and echo while protecting the children from overhead structural wear and leak risks.
This small yet significant infrastructure upgrade has transformed the preschool into a more nurturing and secure space where students can grow with confidence.
Supporting a Thriving Student Community
The preschool currently accommodates 20 new students, 39 second-year learners, and 43 children who have already graduated to primary school. With growing enrolment numbers each year, it is essential that the school facilities keep up with the community’s needs.
Through this project, Vanni Hope continues its commitment to educational equity, focusing not only on access to education but also on the quality of the learning environment from the earliest years.
