Empowering Students Through 2 Model Mathematics Classrooms at Allakolla and Goomera Tamil Vidyalayam Schools

Vanni Hope is proud to announce the successful completion of two new Model Mathematics Classrooms at CP/WAT/Allakolla Tamil Vidyalayam and CP/K/W/Goomera Tamil Vidyalayam, both located in the Central Province’s Kandy District. These projects were made possible thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Lakshmana Iyer Sasitharan Family (Australia) under our Education Support Initiative.

Bridging Educational Gaps for Plantation Communities

Both schools are situated in rural areas where many families rely on plantation work and daily wage labour for their livelihood. Students in these regions often face challenges such as a lack of educational infrastructure, shortage of mathematics teachers, and limited government support for estate sector schools.

Recognising these barriers, Vanni Hope stepped in to create dedicated Model Mathematics Classrooms to give these students a fair opportunity to thrive academically.

Project Highlights

• Allakolla Tamil Vidyalayam (Madulkelle, Waththegama Education Zone)
  • Direct Beneficiaries: 100 students
  • Indirect Beneficiaries: 150 individuals
  • Features: Equipped with engaging mathematical learning resources to make mathematics more interactive and accessible for students.
• Goomera Tamil Vidyalayam (Thawalanthenna, Waththegama Education Zone)
  • Direct Beneficiaries: 100 students
  • Indirect Beneficiaries: 150 individuals
  • Features: Provides a dedicated space with modern mathematical equipment aimed at improving academic performance and building confidence in mathematics.

Both projects aim to uplift the academic standards of students, increase examination success rates, and ultimately open doors for future careers in fields such as engineering, technology, and teaching.
