Model Mathematics Classroom Established at KM/T/K Vipulanantha Vidyalayam in Pottuvil

As part of our Education Support Initiative, Vanni Hope has successfully established a Model Mathematics Classroom at KM/T/K Vipulanantha Vidyalayam in the rural area of Urani, Pottuvil, located in the Ampara District.

This initiative was made possible through the generous support of Mr. Vindran Vengadasalam (Australia), whose continued sponsorship is helping transform learning environments for children in underserved communities.

Empowering Students Through Practical Mathematics

The classroom now serves 128 students from Grades 1 to 5, offering a dedicated space equipped with essential mathematical materials. These resources are designed to promote interactive, hands-on learning, encouraging students to practise core skills such as decimals, data interpretation, statistics, multiplication, division, and more.

By enabling a more engaging approach to numeracy, the project aims to improve mathematics exam pass rates, increase student attendance, and ultimately enhance academic outcomes across all year levels.

Supporting Long-Term Educational Growth

The Model Mathematics Classroom not only supports students but also empowers teachers with a more effective teaching environment. By embedding mathematical concepts through practical tools and activities, both students and educators benefit from a deeper, more confident understanding of the subject.

Community involvement is also central to this approach, with Vanni Hope encouraging families to reinforce mathematical practice at home, helping children connect classroom learning with everyday life.

This classroom is part of a wider series of similar education interventions led by Vanni Hope in rural and remote regions.
