Moolai Victory Women’s Challenge Trophy 2025 Marks a Historic Milestone in Women’s Cricket

In celebration of 25 years of Moolai Victory Sports Club, a hardball cricket tournament was recently organised to identify and encourage female cricketers in the Northern Province of Sri Lanka. Held at Karai Challengers Grounds, this special event brought together over 20 talented female players, showcasing their skills and passion for the sport. All proudly wearing the Vanni Hope emblem on their uniforms, and the iconic VH Baggy Green cap on their heads.

As the proud sponsor of this match, Vanni Hope was honoured to support this initiative, reinforcing our commitment to developing women’s cricket in Sri Lanka. This event was not just about competition—it was about empowering women in sports and ensuring they have access to opportunities in cricket, just as their male counterparts do.

Encouraging Women’s Participation in Cricket

The Moolai Victory Women’s Challenge Trophy 2025 was designed to:

  • Discover emerging female cricketing talent and provide them with a platform to showcase their abilities
  • Encourage young girls and women in the Northern Province to take up the sport and pursue their passion for cricket
  • Foster a strong sports culture that includes women as an integral part of Sri Lanka’s cricketing future

The tournament was a huge success, bringing together female cricketers from different backgrounds, united by their love for the game. The enthusiasm and sportsmanship displayed on the field were truly inspiring, reinforcing the need for continued investment in women’s sports development in Sri Lanka.

Vanni Hope’s Sponsorship and Commitment to Women’s Sports

At Vanni Hope, we are proud to be the official sponsor of the Moolai Victory Women’s Cricket Team, which remains the first and only women’s cricket team in the Northern Province. Our sponsorship of this match is part of our broader commitment to promoting gender inclusivity in sports and empowering young female athletes.

Cricket is more than just a game—it’s a pathway to empowerment, confidence, and leadership. Through continued support, training, and resources, we aim to see many more young women from the Northern Province stepping onto the field and making their mark in the sport.

The Moolai Victory Women’s Challenge Trophy 2025 was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when talent is nurtured and opportunities are provided. We look forward to building on this momentum and supporting the growth of women’s cricket in Sri Lanka for years to come.
