Moolai Victory Reach the Grand Final of the Women’s National Tape Ball Championship 2026

We are proud to celebrate the incredible achievement of the Moolai Victory Women’s Cricket Team, who reached the Grand Final of the National Women’s Tape Ball Championship 2026 after an outstanding run in the tournament.

The competition, held at the SLLRDC Grounds in Nawela, Colombo, brought together leading women’s tape ball cricket teams from across Sri Lanka. Over several days of intense matches, Moolai Victory progressed through the league stage and semi-finals without defeat to secure a place in the national final.

Representing the Northern Province on the National Stage

Moolai Victory is the only women’s cricket team from the Northern Province competing at this level, making their journey to the final an especially proud moment for the region.

Their success highlights the growing talent and determination of young female cricketers from the north. Competing against some of the strongest teams in the country, the players demonstrated exceptional skill, teamwork and resilience throughout the tournament.

For many supporters, this final represented more than a sporting contest. It was a moment that recognised the potential of women’s cricket in the Northern Province and brought national attention to a team that has worked tirelessly to reach this stage.

A Hard-Fought Grand Final

In the Grand Final, Moolai Victory faced the Sri Lanka Air Force Women’s Team, one of the most experienced teams in the competition.

Despite a determined performance and tremendous effort from the players, Moolai Victory ultimately fell short, with the Air Force team claiming the championship title. While the result was disappointing, reaching the final of a national competition remains a remarkable achievement and a testament to the team’s dedication and perseverance. This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and guidance of their coach, Tharmesan, whose commitment, mentorship and tireless support have played a vital role in the team’s development and success.

Inspiring the Next Generation

The significance of this journey extends far beyond the final result. By competing at the highest level of women’s tape ball cricket in Sri Lanka, the players have demonstrated what is possible for young girls in the Northern Province who aspire to pursue sport.

Their achievements are already inspiring younger generations to take up cricket and believe in their potential.
