Navarasa: A Celebration of Giving, Culture, and Community Impact

On August 24th, 2024, we witnessed something truly special at the Navarasa fashion show fundraiser. Hosted by Tari by Gayatri at the Roselea Community Centre in Beecroft, the event was much more than a vibrant display of fashion—it became a living reflection of everything Vanni Hope stands for.

Navarasa represents nine emotions, and the night perfectly embodied these through a rich blend of music, dance, and community. The creative expressions on stage reminded us of the diverse ways we connect as humans—through joy, sorrow, and everything in between. Just as the performers told stories through movement and sound, Vanni Hope strives to create meaningful change through our projects. Whether it’s building homes, supporting education, or improving access to healthcare, our work aims to bring comfort, opportunity, and hope to those who need it most.

The funds raised through Navarasa will go directly into supporting these initiatives—projects that empower people, lift communities, and create sustainable futures. Much like the dancers and musicians who inspired the crowd, Vanni Hope believes in the transformative power of collective action. Every step we take is with the aim of building stronger communities, and this fundraiser perfectly aligned with that mission by bringing people together for a cause bigger than themselves.

From musical performances by Sen Thevarajah and Divz Flute, to breathtaking choreography by Ari Dance Creative, Aruthyk Dance, and Ekta Creative Dance Studio, the event was a beautiful reminder of how we can each use our talents to make a difference. Behind the scenes, volunteers, makeup artists, and coordinators worked tirelessly to ensure the evening’s success, embodying the same spirit of dedication that drives our work at Vanni Hope.

We are deeply grateful to the businesses that sponsored the event: Excellent Jewellery, A1 Fresh Meats, Sri Accounting, One08 Agency, Perera & Sons, Ezy Sim, Homebush Medical Centre, Liberty Funeral, Nexus Cargo, West Ryde Tyre & Wheel, CPA, Esshva & Get Fit Janani. Their generosity, along with the passion of everyone involved, means that 100% of the funds raised will directly support Vanni Hope’s projects across Sri Lanka.

Navarasa was more than just a fundraiser—it was a celebration of how art, community, and generosity can come together to create meaningful change. Every donation, every effort, and every moment of the event reflected our commitment to being the reason someone smiles today. This is the kind of energy we carry into our work, and we are excited to continue building brighter futures, one project at a time.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible and for standing with us on this journey of hope and transformation.
