In a transformative initiative, Vanni Hope, in collaboration with the Hospital Service Council, has provided medical equipment worth 15 million rupees to Kalmunai North Base Hospital. This donation, which includes ICU beds, electric delivery beds, dialysis beds, infant warmers, and incubators, significantly enhances the hospital’s capacity to deliver quality healthcare. It also ensures better medical services for the community, addressing the needs of vulnerable populations in the Batticaloa district.
The project reflects Vanni Hope’s ongoing commitment to empowering healthcare infrastructure in underserved regions. Dr. Nage and Prathab Sithananthan played key roles in organising and coordinating the donation, facilitating the logistics across international borders. Their efforts ensured that the essential equipment arrived safely and on time, ready to support life-saving treatments at the hospital.
The official handover ceremony took place on October 21, 2024, at the hospital premises. The event was attended by representatives from Vanni Hope, including the Eastern Province Coordinator, Kanapathipillai Thavaseelan, and Field Officer Shalini, along with local healthcare professionals. The ceremony celebrated the collaboration between Vanni Hope, the Hospital Service Council, and the local medical staff.
This initiative aligns with Vanni Hope’s broader mission of health and wellbeing empowerment through infrastructure development and community support. The equipment will directly benefit patients by improving hospital capacity, enabling safer deliveries, advanced dialysis treatments, and neonatal care. With these resources, Kalmunai North Base Hospital is now better equipped to serve its community and improve patient outcomes.
