Celebrating Disability Inclusion and Achievement at the National Vocational Training Institute in Batticaloa

The National Vocational Training Institute (NVTI) under the Department of Social Services in Batticaloa recently marked a significant milestone by celebrating its 4th Anniversary, observing the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and hosting a Farewell Ceremony for students who successfully completed their two-year vocational training programme.

The event was organised under the leadership of Miss Jeevithan Suganthiny, Office-in-Charge of the Vocational Training Institute, with implementation support from Vanni Hope. We were honoured to support this meaningful occasion, which brought together students, staff, and supporters to celebrate progress, inclusion, and achievement.

Empowering Students Through Skills and Opportunity

The Vocational Training Institute in Batticaloa is well recognised for its strong commitment to social service and vocational development. Supported by a highly dedicated and service-oriented team, the institute plays a vital role in equipping young people with disabilities with practical skills, confidence, and pathways toward independence.

Miss Jeevithan Suganthiny has played a significant role in the success of the institute through her leadership, dedication, and continued support for students with disabilities. Her efforts have helped foster an environment where students feel encouraged, respected, and empowered to pursue their goals.

A Celebration Filled With Pride and Joy

The programme was thoughtfully planned and successfully delivered. Students of the Vocational Training Institute actively participated by presenting dance and singing performances, adding colour, joy, and pride to the celebration. These performances reflected not only their talents, but also the confidence and self-belief they have developed throughout their training.

The farewell ceremony provided an important opportunity to recognise the achievements of students who completed their two-year vocational training course. As they prepare to move forward into employment and independent living, the ceremony served as both a celebration of their hard work and an encouragement for the journey ahead.

Standing for Inclusion and Community Service

This event strongly reflected the institute’s commitment to empowerment, inclusion, and community service. As Vanni Hope, we were grateful to stand alongside the Vocational Training Institute in supporting an initiative that continues to create meaningful opportunities for persons with disabilities in Batticaloa.
