Transforming Learning Experiences for 476 Students Through Smart Classrooms

Smart boards and innovative digital learning facilities were officially handed over to CP/Girulla Maha Vidyalaya and CP/K/GP/Dolosbage Tamil Vidyalayam in Gampola, Kandy District, with the objective of improving students’ access to modern educational technology and strengthening digital learning opportunities within rural school communities.

The initiative was implemented through the Smart Board Education Program jointly launched by World Vision Lanka and Vanni Hope to support the development of interactive and technology driven classrooms across selected schools in Sri Lanka.

Supporting Students Through Smart Education Facilities

The newly introduced smart boards were established to create more engaging classroom environments that encourage interactive learning experiences for students. Through the use of digital educational tools, students will now have greater opportunities to improve their IT knowledge, digital literacy skills, classroom participation, and overall learning experiences.

A total of 476 students are expected to benefit from the project, including 242 students studying at CP/Girulla Maha Vidyalaya and 234 students studying at CP/K/GP/Dolosbage Tamil Vidyalayam.

The smart boards were also provided with supporting digital learning facilities and technology resources to assist both students and teachers during classroom teaching activities.

Creating More Interactive Classrooms for Teachers and Students

The project was introduced with the aim of transforming traditional classroom learning into a more interactive and student centered educational experience. The use of smart classroom technology will help teachers deliver lessons more effectively while allowing students to engage with learning materials through visual and digital teaching methods.

The initiative is expected to improve classroom engagement, encourage active participation, and help students become more confident in using technology for educational purposes.

Teacher training and digital learning support were also included as part of the initiative to help ensure the effective use of the newly installed smart classroom facilities.

Strengthening Education in Rural Communities

Located within the Gampola Divisional Secretariat Division of Kandy District, both schools continue to serve children from surrounding rural and semi urban communities where access to modern educational technology remains limited.

The Smart Board Education Program was introduced to help bridge the digital divide by ensuring students studying in rural schools receive equal opportunities to access technology based learning experiences similar to those available in more urban educational settings.

The initiative also supports the long term development of quality education and digital learning opportunities for children within underserved communities.

Jointly Sponsored Through the Shiksha/Kalvi Project

This meaningful initiative was jointly sponsored by World Vision Lanka and Vanni Hope under the Shiksha/Kalvi Project to enhance quality education and support the learning journey of children studying in rural schools across Sri Lanka.
