Scholarships Provided to Kartheepany and Anuska in Jaffna District

Through our Student Sponsorship Program, we are pleased to support two dedicated young students, Kartheepany and Anuska, ensuring they can continue their education despite significant financial hardship. While this initiative supports students in Jaffna District, our commitment to educational empowerment extends across all of Sri Lanka.

Education remains one of the most powerful tools for breaking cycles of poverty. By providing targeted sponsorship to students in need, we help reduce school dropout rates and create long-term opportunities for vulnerable families island-wide.

Kartheepany – Advanced Level Student, Jaffna Hindu Ladies’ College

Kartheepany is currently pursuing her Advanced Level studies in Bio Science at Jaffna Hindu Ladies’ College. She is from Madduvil.

Kartheepany comes from a financially disadvantaged family. Her father works as a mason with irregular daily wages, and her mother is a full-time homemaker without an independent income. The family faces ongoing economic hardship and struggles to cover school-related expenses, including study materials, tuition support, and examination costs.

Without financial assistance, Kartheepany risked interrupting her education during this critical stage of her Advanced Level studies. Through the generous sponsorship of Vaishnavie Sanmugaratnam from Australia, she can now continue her studies with greater stability and focus. This scholarship is implemented by Vanni Hope.

Anuska – Grade 8 Student, Kodikamam Thirunavukkarasu Central College

Anuska is currently studying in Grade 8 at Kodikamam Thirunavukkarasu Central College. She is from Kodikamam.

Anuska comes from a low-income household where her mother works as a daily wage labourer and is the sole breadwinner. Her father separated from the family and does not provide financial or emotional support. She has several siblings who are also pursuing their education, placing additional strain on the household’s limited resources.

The family does not own a home and currently resides with relatives. Covering schoolbooks, uniforms, stationery and other daily educational expenses has been extremely challenging.

Through the generous sponsorship of Dolly and Arull Kandasamy from Australia, Anuska can now continue her education with renewed hope and stability. This scholarship is implemented by Vanni Hope.
