From Kilinochchi to Doctor – Celebrating Dr Thanujan’s Graduation

We are proud to celebrate a truly special milestone. Thanujan, a dedicated student from Kilinochchi, has officially graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna.

This achievement is not simply a degree. It represents years of sacrifice, perseverance, and unwavering determination.

A Journey Marked by Resilience

Thanujan grew up in a humble household in Kilinochchi alongside three brothers and one sister. His father works as a painter, and his mother is a homemaker. With limited financial resources, the family relied on his father’s income to support the household while encouraging their children to pursue education.

Despite financial hardship, Thanujan remained focused on his dream of becoming a doctor. Long hours of study, personal sacrifice, and resilience in the face of challenges shaped his journey. His family’s love and encouragement became his foundation, and through sheer determination, he overcame every obstacle placed before him.

Through Vanni Hope’s Student Sponsorship Program, Thanujan received the support he needed at a critical time in his education. That support helped ease financial pressures and allowed him to focus on completing his medical degree.
