Celebrating Yathushayini’s Graduation and Inspiring Journey in Civil Engineering

Vanni Hope is proud to celebrate the remarkable academic and professional achievement of Yathushayini, a student we have had the privilege to support through our Student Sponsorship Program, part of our broader Education Support Initiative.

Hailing from Kallady Yeloor in Batticaloa, Yathushayini recently graduated with a Merit Pass in Civil Engineering Technology from the prestigious Institute of Technology, University of Moratuwa—one of Sri Lanka’s most competitive and respected institutions for engineering education.

A Journey Marked by Determination

Yathushayini’s success story is one born of resilience and hard work. She comes from a humble background: her father works as a dedicated labourer and her mother is a homemaker. Despite financial challenges, the unwavering support from her family and her own drive to succeed allowed her to pursue her education and thrive.

With a strong commitment to her studies and a passion for making a difference in her community, she is now employed as a Technical Officer at the Eastern Provincial Housing Authority in Batticaloa. In this role, she contributes directly to the infrastructure and housing needs of her local area, turning her academic training into tangible service for the people around her.

Empowering Young Women in Engineering

Yathushayini’s achievement is not just a personal milestone—it’s a powerful example of how access to education and targeted support can empower young women in Sri Lanka to break barriers and enter fields traditionally dominated by men, such as engineering and technology.

At Vanni Hope, we believe that investing in students like Yathushayini is an investment in the future of Sri Lanka. Her journey from a rural estate to a career in civil engineering proves that with opportunity, determination, and support, anything is possible.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to Yathushayini and her family and remain committed to helping more students like her realise their dreams.
