Stationery Support and Prize Giving for 56 Preschool Children in Batticaloa

At Vanni Hope, we believe that supporting education starts long before a child enters a classroom. As part of our ongoing commitment to early childhood development, we were pleased to complete a stationery provision and prize-giving initiative at Arasadithivu Vigneswara Pre-School in the Batticaloa District.

This initiative focused on ensuring young learners had the basic tools they need to transition confidently into primary education, while also celebrating their achievements as they take this important next step.

Many families connected to Arasaditheevu Vigneswara Pre-School face financial challenges, making it difficult to provide basic stationery for their children as they prepare for Grade 1. To address this, Vanni Hope provided essential stationery items for 56 preschool students, helping to ease the burden on families and support school readiness.

The stationery packs included age-appropriate learning materials such as pencils, erasers, rulers, sharpeners, notebooks, crayons, and school bags, ensuring each child could begin primary school with confidence and dignity.

Celebrating Achievement at the Prize-Giving Ceremony

Alongside the stationery handover, we were honoured to attend the preschool’s prize-giving ceremony for children preparing to enter Grade 1. This celebration recognised the effort, growth, and achievements of the students and served as an important moment of encouragement as they transition into formal schooling.

The event reflected the strong commitment of the preschool staff to inclusive, supportive early education and highlighted the importance of recognising children’s achievements from a young age.

A Community-Focused Initiative

This project was sponsored by the Tennyson & Vinitha Rodrigo Trust and implemented by Vanni Hope, with the shared goal of strengthening educational foundations within the local community. By investing in early learning, this initiative helps promote equal opportunities and long-term educational outcomes for children in Batticaloa.

We are grateful to our supporters for making initiatives like this possible and for standing with us as we continue to support children and families across Sri Lanka through education-focused projects.
