Maths Classroom Established at Vigneshwara Maha Vidyalayam in Vavuniya

As part of our Education Support Initiative, Vanni Hope is proud to announce the successful completion of a mathematics classroom improvement project at V/Vigneshwara Maha Vidyalayam, located in Sinnapoovarasankulam, Nedunkerney, in the Vavuniya District.

This important project was made possible through the generous support of Mr. Vindran Vengadasalan from Australia. His sponsorship has helped transform the learning environment for students in this rural, plantation-based community.

Addressing the Gaps in Mathematics Education

Prior to this initiative, the school lacked essential mathematics resources, experienced a shortage of qualified teachers, and had limited curriculum support. Students often struggled to understand key concepts, and their performance in mathematics exams reflected the lack of structure and tools.

Our intervention aimed to bridge these gaps and provide a more engaging and effective learning environment that nurtures confidence in mathematics.

What the Project Delivered

Through this project, Vanni Hope provided essential mathematical equipment, introduced a new school name board, and facilitated monitoring and evaluation support to help ensure long-term success. The newly enhanced classroom now provides a space where students can learn maths through practical tools and structured teaching.

The initiative has directly benefited 64 students, with more than 150 indirect beneficiaries including school staff, parents, and members of the surrounding community.

Laying the Foundation for Future Learning

By investing in maths education, we’re laying the groundwork for students to thrive academically and pursue further studies in science, technology, and related fields. It is our hope that this project will improve exam outcomes, increase student participation, and help break cycles of disadvantage.
