Enhancing Digital Learning at G/Divitura Vivekananda Tamil Maha Vidyalaya with New Computers

Vanni Hope is pleased to share the successful completion of a school computer project at G/Divitura Vivekananda Tamil Maha Vidyalaya, located in the Elpitiya Education Zone, Galle District. This initiative is part of our Education Support Program, which focuses on bridging the digital divide for students in rural and underserved communities.

Thanks to the generous sponsorship of the Lakshmana Iyer Sasitharan Family (Australia), we were able to equip the school with three new computers, enhancing the technological infrastructure of the school and opening the door to modern learning experiences for its 220 students.

Supporting a Community in Need

The school is situated in an area where many families rely on plantation work, farming, or daily wage labour. The ongoing economic challenges in Sri Lanka have further compounded the difficulties families face in providing quality education to their children. Limited access to digital tools has made it difficult for students in these regions to keep up with the growing demands of a modern education system.

This project aimed to address that gap—offering students the chance to develop vital computer skills and improve their academic outcomes.

Project Objectives and Impact

The primary goal of this initiative was to:

• Enhance computer literacy among students
• Improve the school’s learning environment
• Support long-term academic growth
• Build a future-ready, technology-literate student body

The computer classroom is now a dynamic space where both students and teachers can engage with digital learning platforms, video lessons, shared presentations, and interactive educational tools. By introducing these resources, we are also supporting increased school attendance and improving learning outcomes for the students.

A Step Toward Equitable Education

The completion of this project reflects our ongoing commitment to ensuring that every child—regardless of background—has access to quality education and the tools needed to thrive in the 21st century. With technology now integrated into their learning environment, students at G/Divitura Vivekananda Tamil Maha Vidyalaya are better positioned for future academic and professional success.
