Education is one of the most powerful tools to unlock potential, especially in communities where access is limited. Thanks to the generous support of the VINVA Foundation and Mr Gangeyan Ganesalingam, in loving memory of the late Mr V S Ganesalingam (Australia), Vanni Hope has proudly implemented full university scholarships for three outstanding students. These students come from diverse regions of Sri Lanka and are now pursuing careers in healthcare, education, and traditional medicine.
A. Jesmika – Speech & Hearing Sciences
University: University of Kelaniya
From: Murippu, Mulliyavalai, Mullaitivu District
A. Jesmika is a determined young woman from Mullaitivu pursuing a degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Coming from a rural background, she has chosen a path that will allow her to make a lasting impact in communities where such specialised care is critically lacking. Her dream is to support individuals with communication disorders and bring compassionate rehabilitation services to underserved areas.
Thiyakaraja Sritharan – Physical Education
University: University of Jaffna
From: Sannar, Pallamadhu, Mannar District
Thiyakaraja is an aspiring educator who aims to promote physical wellbeing and sportsmanship in youth. Coming from Mannar District, his decision to study Physical Education is rooted in a desire to uplift rural schools where structured physical training is limited. With this scholarship, he can now pursue his degree without financial barriers holding him back.
P. Arichana – Siddha Medicine & Surgery
University: University of Jaffna
From: Mornington Lower Division, Wewarly Group, Agarapatana, Nuwara Eliya District
Hailing from the central hills of Nuwara Eliya, P. Arichana is studying Siddha Medicine & Surgery—a traditional system of healing deeply rooted in South Asian heritage. Her studies represent not only a commitment to public health, but also to preserving indigenous knowledge systems that are vital to Sri Lanka’s cultural and medical history.
These scholarships do more than ease financial burdens—they restore hope, dignity, and opportunity. Each of these students now walks a path towards becoming a leader in their respective fields, committed to giving back to their communities.
Vanni Hope is honoured to facilitate this journey, and we remain deeply grateful to the VINVA Foundation and the Ganesalingam family for their unwavering support of higher education in Sri Lanka.
Be the reason someone smiles today.
