Vanni Hope Partners with The Aram Initiative to Connect Global Sri Lankan Youth with Their Roots

Vanni Hope is excited to announce a new partnership with The Aram Initiative, an organisation committed to reconnecting the global Sri Lankan diaspora with their heritage while creating a positive impact on local communities. This collaboration marks a significant step in engaging young adults of Sri Lankan descent worldwide, fostering meaningful connections with their roots, and building a stronger future for Sri Lanka.

Our Chairman, Ranjan Sivagnanasundaram, recently met with Harren Selvakumar, the co-founder of the Aram Initiative, to formalise this inspiring partnership. Together, they visited our Shakthy Girls Home in Batticaloa. This collaboration brings together two organisations that share a common vision—empowering communities while engaging the next generation of global Sri Lankan leaders.

About the Aram Initiative

The Aram Initiative is a youth-led organisation that runs annual trips to Sri Lanka, providing young adults from the global Sri Lankan diaspora the opportunity to immerse themselves in community development projects. Through these trips, participants visit nonprofit initiatives, run health camps, donate educational resources, and actively engage in community-building efforts.

The initiative not only focuses on service but also aims to help young Sri Lankans living abroad form deeper connections with their cultural heritage and understand the social dynamics within Sri Lanka. It is a platform for young leaders to engage in sustainable development while fostering a sense of belonging and responsibility toward their roots.

Why This Partnership Matters

By partnering with the Aram Initiative, Vanni Hope aims to:

  • Engage Global Sri Lankan Youth: Inspire young adults in the diaspora to become active contributors to Sri Lanka’s future.
  • Foster Cultural Connection: Strengthen the relationship between the diaspora and local communities through hands-on experiences.
  • Support Community Development: Collaborate on projects that improve education, healthcare, and sustainable living in rural communities.
  • Engagement with our Illams (Children’s Homes), fostering bonds between diaspora youth and children in care
  • Build the Next Generation of Leaders: Equip young adults with the skills, knowledge, and cultural understanding needed to lead future initiatives.

This partnership aligns with Vanni Hope’s mission to empower communities through education, healthcare, and sustainable development. By working together, we are setting the stage for long-lasting impacts on Sri Lanka’s future.

Looking Ahead

Vanni Hope and the Aram Initiative will collaborate on various projects, including:

  • Health Camps targeting underserved areas
  • Educational Equipment Donations to schools in need
  • Community Workshops to promote sustainability and leadership
  • Volunteer Opportunities for diaspora youth to engage in meaningful, on-ground work in Sri Lanka

We are excited about the possibilities this partnership brings and the countless lives it will touch. Together, we are fostering a global community committed to the betterment of Sri Lanka.
