Empowering 30 Women-Headed Families in Batticaloa Through Pottery Production

Vanni Hope, in collaboration with the People’s Service Council, is proud to share the success of our latest Small-Cottage Industry initiative, focused on supporting 30 women-headed families in Wellaweli DS, Batticaloa District. These resilient women, many of whom rely on pottery to support their families, were provided with financial assistance and essential tools, including mini grinders, to help them improve their production and craftsmanship.

This project is part of Vanni Hope’s ongoing commitment to empowering women in rural communities by fostering economic independence and promoting sustainable livelihoods. Pottery is not just a cultural craft but also a vital source of income for these families. Through our support, these women now have access to better equipment and resources, enabling them to expand their businesses, increase their earnings, and provide for their families with dignity.

We are thrilled to witness the positive impact this initiative is already making, and we look forward to continuing our work in empowering women across Sri Lanka.
