Vanni Hope is proud to announce the successful completion of a school computer project at CP/N/Radella Tamil Vidyalayam, located in Nanuoya in Sri Lanka’s Central Province. This initiative was part of our Education Support efforts and was generously sponsored by the Lakshmana Iyer Sasitharan Family from Australia.
Addressing the Digital Divide in Rural Communities
Radella Tamil Vidyalayam serves around 300 students, most of whom come from plantation backgrounds and face significant economic challenges. Many families in the region rely on low daily wages and lack access to basic digital tools. Until now, students at this school had minimal opportunities to develop digital skills.
Vanni Hope recognised this gap and responded by providing vital computer equipment to support the school’s mission to improve student learning outcomes.
Project Highlights
- Three computers were donated and installed at the school to form a foundational computer learning environment.
- The project introduced structured digital education to all year levels.
- Teachers received training to effectively integrate computer use into their classroom teaching.
Transforming Learning Through Technology
This project is more than a donation—it represents a major step forward in equipping rural students with skills for the future. With regular access to computers, students now learn basic IT skills, type documents, search for information online, and gain exposure to technology-driven learning.
Key benefits include:
- Improved digital literacy across all age groups
- Greater student engagement in classroom activities
- A foundation for higher education and career opportunities in technology and other fields
A Note of Gratitude
We sincerely thank the Lakshmana Iyer Sasitharan Family for their generous sponsorship. Their support is transforming the lives of children in rural Sri Lanka, giving them access to tools that will shape their future.
At Vanni Hope, we are committed to narrowing the digital divide. Every child, no matter where they live, deserves access to a quality, modern education.
